I’ve been interested in the concept of making my own personalized embellishments for a long time, but just recently got the time to play around with it. This card uses the “She’s All That” from the Occasions mini that is ending today (you can still order these little gals till 9 p.m tonight!) I wanted to do a card that showed a progression of friendship: growing up, young adulthood, marriage. I made it a “friend” card because the “Three for You” punch box stamps contain the “friend” stamp, but it could be a wedding or shower card too.
I stamped the girls in Basic Gray ink from Stampin’ Up! and used Soft Sky, Basic Black, and Whisper White cardstock. I used the Mat Pack Paper Piercing template to make the dots at the bottom with my Basic Gray marker. I layered several different designs of Soft Sky Designer Series Paper and added some Basic Gray taffeta ribbon. But the part of this card I am most proud of is this:

Aren’t these cool? These little babies take some patience and forethought, but they are worth it! First I punched out the Soft Sky flowers with the Three For You punch and attached them to my card with mini-glue dots. Next I punched out four 1/4″ circles of Basic Gray cardstock and attached them to a small piece of waxed paper with mini-glue dots. I then carefully added a dollop of Crystal Effects, making sure I only squeezed once and carefully “smushed” it with the applicator tip to even out the drop. I waited a few minutes to allow the “dew drops” to set, then sprinkled them with Dazzling Diamonds glitter. I made these last night and left them to dry on the waxed paper. When I got up this morning they were ready to put on my card! The key to making these is PATIENCE. If you try to use them too soon they will stretch or mash flat when you handle them. Attaching the cardstock circle to the wax paper first with the mini-glue dot also makes it easier to remove and add to your project when they are ready. You can make these in any color of cardstock or designer paper you have on hand. You can also make them in clear or clear colors, just skip the dazzling diamonds! I’m demoing these at my workshop tonight, so I have another set of these already dried and ready to go!
