Monthly Swap Card!

Monthly Swap Card!

Almost every month I participate in a swap with 20 other talented Stampin' Up! demonstrators. I create one card based on the swap hostess' monthly theme, then make 21 copies of that one card. I mail them off to the swap hostess, Carol Nordquist, who lives in Minnetonka, MN. I also send her the postage to mail me back 20 different cards. It is always an exciting moment to open that Priority Envelope and see the fun samples everyone came up with that month! This month's theme was non-valentine but fun stuff from the Occasions Mini. Here's the first one, stamped beautifully by Karen Kurz!

I have the "Season of Friendship" stamp set she used for this fun card, and this sample reminds me that I don't use it often enough! I love how she used the negative part of the small ric-rac from the "Tasteful Trim" Bigz XL die for the grass and added the red Glimmer Paper hearts to the tree! "hugs & kisses" is from the versatile set, "All Holidays"!

A short post today, but I'm on a tight time-schedule. My grandson, Cohen, turned 3 today, and we have a party to go to tonight, so I have some presents to wrap, as well as getting more accomplished for my "Do you need a Valentine?" camp and a downline meeting this coming weekend!

Until tomorrow, have a "Stampingrox!" day!

Finally Friday! And more swaps!

Finally Friday! And more swaps!

Here it is finally Friday and I've only gotten through the 3rd day of the cruise! We had so much fun, it's hard to leave anything out! This post is LOOONG because I'm going to show you a bunch of Share Night stuff!

2010 Southern Caribbean Cruise share night 11
Share Night is one of the highlights of every Incentive Trip; cruise achievers bring their best projects from the past year for display to "share" with their fellow achievers! It's always exclusive to Cruise Achievers only, so Jessica had to go back to our cabin by herself!

Renee Watson & I had to have our picture taken together! Not only were we were wearing the same blouse, but she had on brown capris, I had on a brown skirt, we both worth turquoise earrings, brown sandals, and even our toenail polish matched! We had never met before, but became instant friends!

Although Renee & I hadn't met before, we HAD swapped! We are both members of a monthly swap hosted by Carol Nordquist, and this was the fabulous swap I received from Renee this month! She used "Tropical Party" and the Square Lattice Embossing Folder! I love how she frayed her ribbon!

Folk Flowers Stencil

Folk Flowers Stencil

Hooray friends! I did take of picture of this card! Actually, once again, this card is CASED from my downline, Jan. This was her Shoebox Swap card this month, and we all got to make it! We used the "Folk Flowers" Stencil from the new Occasions Mini catalog with sponge daubers in Regal Rose, Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, and Soft Suede. This is a BIG card, 5×5 square, so it took some time to do all the stencilling, but a blast nonetheless! We also used the phrase, "on Your BIRTHDAY . . " from the birthday set, "On Your Birthday", punching it out with the large oval & scalloped oval punches!

Other than the detail of the stenciling, a pretty quick but WOW card! I'm so glad I remembered to take a picture!

If you want to order the "Folk Flowers" stencil, #118139, it's only #12.95!

Friends 24-7!

Friends 24-7!

Friends 24 7 All products copyright Stampin' Up! 1990-2009
Isn't this a gorgeous card? It's so beautiful I can't believe I designed and  made it myself! This new set from the Spring/Summer 2009 Catalog, "Friends 24-7" and the "Friendly Words" wheel is just so beautiful and easy to use! I wanted a card for a stamp camp this past weekend, and came up with this! I wheeled the "Friendly Words" on Baja Breeze cardstock, then punched the lower edge with the new "Eyelet Border" punch. I knew as soon as I saw it in the new catalog that I HAD to have some of the "Parisian Breeze" Designer Series Specialty paper. It costs a little more than our standard DSP ($11.95 vs the usual $9.95), but by just using a little strip (4 1/4" X 1 1/2") you can spark up alot of cards with just one 12×12 sheet! I stamped the bird in Chocolate Chip on SU!'s Watercolor Paper, then colored him with Baja Breeze re-inker and a blender pen. I am NOT a skilled watercolorer, but this technique and using the watercolor paper makes me look like I am! After I "watercolored", I stamped the "Sanded" background stamp over the bird with Sahara Sand ink, used the 3/16" Corner Rounder on two corners, and sponged the edges with Chocolate Chip. After I mounted him on the Chocolate Chip & Baja Breeze layers and mounted all on the cardfront, I decided the upper left corner looked a bit blank, so I added a "Mini Library Clip" and loved the look! (to be honest, I've had a couple of pkgs of mini library clips ever since they first came out in a mini catalog quite a while ago, but had just hoarded them and never used them, shame on me, they are SO CUTE!) I will be using these more, you can be sure of that!
