Stampin’ Up! Count My Blessings with Faux Shaving Cream!

Stampin’ Up! Count My Blessings with Faux Shaving Cream!

Hey there! I love techniques! I love learning new ones and re-discovering old ones. I've been a demonstrator for almost 15 years, so I've learned a lot of them! Today's card used a sort-of-new-sort-of-old technique, Faux Shaving Cream!

The real Shaving Cream technique involves real shaving cream and ink refills, which while loads of fun, is quite messy and time consuming. Stampin' Up! gave us a new background stamp in the Annual Catalog called "Marbled", that looks so much like the end result of the shaving cream technique I just had to use it with Crushed Curry and Tangerine Tango ink pads to create this:

Stampin_up_faux_shaving_cream_count_my_blessings_carolpaynestamps1

After inking the Marbled Background all over with Crushed Curry, I then used the edge and corner of the Tangerine Tango pad to swipe color on top of the first for the swirled look. After laying the Very Vanilla card stock on top of the inked image and gently rubbing to transfer the ink, I then stamped the acorn image from Count My Blessings with Early Espresso. I filled in the gaps with tiny little leaves, also from Count My Blessings. Sponging the edges with Early Espresso ink added warmth and depth.

Stampin_up_faux_shaving_cream_count_my_blessings_carolpaynestamps2

After stamping "thinking of you", also from Count My Blessings, with Early Espresso, I cut it out with a Layering Oval Framelit, sponged the edges with Early Espresso ink, and then adhered it over an Early Espresso mat cut with an Eastern Medallions Thinlet. I sponged a Touches of Nature Element with Early Espresso, then adhered with a glue dot. I added a pearl, colored with a new product that will be available sometime in the next few months, a Stampin' Blend! (new and improved alcohol markers!)

Stampin_up_faux_shaving_cream_count_my_blessings_carolpaynestamps3

For the inside layer I huffed on the leftover ink on the Marbled image, then laid the layer on it to get a lighter look. I finished the inside with the remaining Count My Blessings phrase, repeating the acorns, leaves, and sponging.

Stampin’ Up! Stepped-Up Painted Harvest for the Creative Crew!

Stampin’ Up! Stepped-Up Painted Harvest for the Creative Crew!

Hey there! Just when you think you have everything lined up to accomplish a lot in one day, it can go awry. I've been dealing with a broken washing machine since last week. The repairman came on Tuesday afternoon, so I started washing my weeks-worth pile of laundry. I'd only done a few loads when the machine door stopped closing. Of course it was after hours by then. When my hubby came home he fixed it, so I was able to do a couple more loads before bedtime. Yesterday morning the door, although closed, refused to lock! The poor machine kept trying and trying to lock itself, so I turned it off and called my hubby. He got it going for one more load before it quit locking again! I called the repairman, who will be here tomorrow IF the part arrives on the UPS truck before he starts on his route. Goodness, will I ever catch up?

On the bright side, I DO have a great card to share with you today; the stepped-up version of the CAS Painted Harvest card from yesterday. I created a nifty tri-fold using the October Creative Crew Challenge colors of Chocolate Chip, Tangerine Tango, and Tranquil Tide.

Stampin_up_painted_harvest_carolpaynestamps2

After embossing the card front with the Petal Burst folder, I cut a circle through the front with a Layering Circle Framelit. I then used that circle and a scalloped Layering Circle Framelit to cut out the rim from Tangerine Tango. Before I adhere the scalloped circle rim, I cut out a circle slightly larger than the smaller circle from a Window Sheet to sandwich between the card front and the rim.

I stamped the bloom and the Painted Harvest greeting on the Whisper White layer behind the window sheet. I adhered the stamped and punched Tranquil Tide leaves between the layers with a glue dot. I tied a bit of Linen Thread in a bow and added it with a glue dot too.

Stampin_up_painted_harvest_carolpaynestamps2

The Chocolate Chip card base is 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4. The white layer is also 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored and 4 1/4". I stamped the Tangerine Tango blooms multiple times before adhering the folded layer to the back side of the Chocolate Chip card base so it will open to create the tri-fold. I added  the little dots with the flower center image from Painted Harvest, stamping-off Tranquil Tide for a subtle look.

Stampin_up_painted_harvest_carolpaynestamps3

The tri-fold inside was stamped with more Painted Harvest images.

Stampin_up_painted_harvest_carolpaynestamps4

I sure hope the washer comes early today so I can get a little stamping done. You never know what a day will bring! lol!

Stampin’ Up! Autumn Easel Quilt!

Stampin’ Up! Autumn Easel Quilt!

Hey there! Today is the September Christmas Card Series Class! I'm excited to share my creations with my friends! A very popular bundle in the Holiday Catalog is the Christmas Quilt Bundle, as well as all of the rest of the products in the Quilted Christmas Suite, but this bundle is not just for Christmas!

My creation to share today is another one using the Christmas Quilt stamp set,the Quilt Top Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, and Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper:

Stampin_up_painted_autumn_quilt_carolpaynestamps1

Instead of using the Quilt Builder Framelits to make the "quilt square", I used the stamps from Christmas Quilt with Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze ink to stamp the Very Vanilla layer. I embossed the layers with the Quilt Top folder for the great overall quilted look. I added a Gold Faceted Gem in the center for some sparkle.

Stampin_up_painted_autumn_quilt_carolpaynestamps2

I added a strip of Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper, which was also embossed at the same time as the rest of the layers, then wrapped a piece of 1/8" Copper Trim. I tied the trim in a bow and added with a glue dot. I stamped a greeting from Wood Words with Early Espresso, punched with the Classic Label, and added with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.

Stampin_up_painted_autumn_quilt_carolpaynestamps3

I added all of my layers to the front of a Chocolate Chip easel-fold card base.

Stampin_up_painted_autumn_quilt_carolpaynestamps4

I used the Butterfly Basics birthday greeting and a phrase from Painted Harvest, punched with the Everyday Label Punch and popped up with dimensionals to create the "stop" for the easel.

Stampin’ Up! Autumn Christmas Quilt!

Stampin’ Up! Autumn Christmas Quilt!

Hey there! I've been playing a bit with the Quilted Christmas Suite! I love fall, with all of the warm colors, so I'm playing with fall colors: Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Very Vanilla, and Chocolate Chip! Sounds like Thanksgiving dinner, doesn't it?

I have a few projects lined up over the next few days to share, but first I want to share this straightforward card that also uses the Quilt Builder Framelits and Quilt Top Textured Impressions Embossing Folder:

Stampin_up_christmas_quilt_carolpaynestamps1

I cut the same design from Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, and Chocolate Chip card stock with a Quilt Builder Framelit Die, then used some of the pieces of each color to create the "quilt block" After adhering the block to the Very Vanilla layer and then the Crushed Curry layer, I embossed the whole thing with the Quilt Top Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. This technique is called "Inlaid Embossing".

Stampin_up_christmas_quilt_carolpaynestamps2

I also stamped a Painted Harvest greeting with Early Espresso ink on the lower part of the vanilla layer before embossing. I added a single Gold Faceted Gem to the lower right corner for some sparkle.

Stampin_up_christmas_quilt_carolpaynestamps3

Inside I stamped my favorite greeting from Butterfly Basics with Early Espresso ink, as well as couple of blooms from Christmas Quilt with Cajun Craze.

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day September 17!

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day September 17!

Hey there! Today for Sunday Swap Day I've collected together a bunch of fun Halloween swaps! Halloween may seem far away, but it's the middle of September, time to start those cards or treat packaging now!

First, Mary Booker combined Spooky Night Designer Series Paper with the Spooky Cat stamp set and Everyday Label Punch to create a fun easel card!

Stampin_up_spooky_cat_carolpaynestamps7

Next, Christine Bertram also used Spooky Night Designer Paper and the Spooky Cat stamp set. She tied a bit of 5/8" Burlap Trim with Basic Black Solid Baker's Twine for an easy embellishment.

Stampin_up_spooky_cat_carolpaynestamps8

Dena Tarkowski combined the Seasonal Chums set with Spooky Night Designer Series Paper. She cut her layers with a Stitched Shapes Framelit and a Layering Squares Framelit.  Black Rhinestone Jewels, a new embellishment from the Holiday Catalog.

Stampin_up_seasonal_chums_carolpaynestamps

Carol Slack used the Spooky Cat stamp set with the Spooky Cat Punch (bundled to save 10%!) for her card. She punched a strip of Tangerine Tango card stock with the  Decorative Ribbon Border Punch for an added embellishment.

Stampin_up_spooky_cat_carolpaynestamps1

Dawn Woodward used  Spooky Cat images to stamp her own "designer series paper" for her background:

Stampin_up_spooky_cat_carolpaynestamps2

Janace Charbonneau used four different designs of Spooky Night Designer Series Paper for her background panel of her card. The Cat Punch and Black Rhinestone Jewels add interest along with the Basic Black Vintage Crochet Trim.

Stampin_up_spooky_cat_carolpaynestamps3

Jenna Raby also used the Spooky Cat Bundle, that includes the Cat Punch, with Spooky Night Designer Series Paper to create her circle pop-up card. Layering Circle and Layering Oval Framelits cut out all of the layers easily!

Stampin_up_spooky_cat_carolpaynestamps4

Finally, Jan Rodrian punched one cat from the Spooky Night Designer Series Paper and punched the other directly from Basic Black card stock for her creation.  Her sentiment is from Pocketful of Sunshine!
