Stampin’ Up! Smitten Mittens!

Stampin’ Up! Smitten Mittens!

Hey there! I had a chance to play with the Smitten Mittens Bundle a few days ago. It's an adorable set! I paired it with Be Merry Designer Series Paper, Lots of Labels Framelits, and the Pretty Label Punch to create this as my "warm-up" card:

Stampin_up_smitten_mittens_carolpaynestamps1

The Many Mittens Framelits made it easy to cut out the tiny mittens! I added a thread pulled from a piece of burlap ribbon with a glue dot on the back of each mitten, and added a Hearts & Stars Element heart with a glue dot for a homespun look. To add the tiny heart to the "smitten" "i", I inked the stamp with Garden Green ink, then rubbed the green off the heart that dots the i. After stamping, I added the heart back in with a Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Write Marker.

Stampin_up_smitten_mittens_carolpaynestamps2

The inside sentiment and snowflakes are all included in the Smitten Mittens set! I loved this set when I saw it in the Holiday Catalog but hesitated to order it for some strange reason. I'm so glad I didn't skip this set!

This is NOT the only card I created with Smitten Mittens, so be sure to check back tomorrow for another Smitten Mitten creation!

Stampin’ Up! Alaska Achiever’s Blog Hop October 2017!

21270916_1455293811190316_4972528782795736301_n

Hey there! It's time for the Alaska Achiever's Blog Hop! The theme for our very first hop is "anything you like!" This hop is exclusive to Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who have earned the 2018 Stampin' Up! Incentive Trip : a week-long cruise along the lower Alaska coast!

This hop includes Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world, so get ready to be "wow'd"! Right now you are at my blog, Carol Payne Stamps. To continue on after you view my project, simply click on the name below mine in the list below to move on to the next blog.

For my project I used the extremely popular and very versatile stamp set from the Holiday Catalog, Painted Harvest!

I used the Direct-Ink-too-Embossing-Folder technique in addition to the Gilded Faux Silk technique to create this elegant-but-easy card. This one may very well be MY card this year!

Stampin_up_painted_harvest_wreath_carolpaynestamps1

To create the wreath I used just the smaller of the bloom images from Painted Harvest, stamped with Tranquil Tide ink on a white coffee filter. After crumpling and adhering to a Whisper White square, I wrapped the edges around the the back and then patted the creases and wrinkles with a Versamark ink pad. I then sprinkled Gold Stampin' Emboss powder and heated with my Heat Tool. I adhered  it to a Gold Foil layer cut with a Stitched Shapes Framelit.

Stampin_up_painted_harvest_wreath_carolpaynestamps2

Tiny Rhinestones I colored with my Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends (you can start ordering them on November 1st!) were added for the berries, and I adhered a tiny bow tied with Real Red 1/8" Solid Ribbon with a glue dot.

Stampin_up_painted_harvest_wreath_carolpaynestamps3

I stamped "Merry Christmas!" from the Merry Patterns Host set (only available with a party or customer order of at least $300 before tax & shipping through October 31st) with Tranquil Tide. After punching with my best-friend punch, Classic Label, I adhered with dimensionals.

Stampin_up_painted_harvest_wreath_carolpaynestamps4

I repeated the wreath motif on the inside,  using a sentiment from Snowflake Sentiments.

Stampin’ Up! Painted Harvest Christmas Hedgehog!

Stampin’ Up! Painted Harvest Christmas Hedgehog!

Hey there! Today I have an adorable idea to make with the Painted Harvest stamp set that is truly out-of-the-box! It almost feels like punch art, but without the punches! This is not my original idea, but the card design is all mine:

Stampin_up_painted_harvest_hedgehog_carolpaynestamps1

Isn't he just so stinkin' cute?!!! Basically he is 2/3 of the Painted Harvest bloom layers, stamped first with Crumb Cake and then Early Espresso. The center is also Crumb Cake, stamped with one of the faces from the Foxy Friends stamp set. I used a Garden Green gingham print from the Quilted Christmas Designer Series Paper pack, Quilted Christmas 1/4" Ribbon, and a Hearts & Stars Element in the lower right corner.

I used sentiments from the Snowflake Sentiments set for my greetings, stamped with Garden Green, and stamped snowflakes with Real Red. Overall it's a pretty quick & easy card!

You can make this card at my Stamptober Christmas Card Class next weekend if you RSVP and bring a new, un-inked friend to class!

Stampin’ Up! Painted Harvest Christmas Tag!

Stampin’ Up! Painted Harvest Christmas Tag!

Hey there! When I started making Christmas cards with the Painted Harvest stamp set, the ideas just kept on rollin'!

Stampin_up_painted_harvest_tag_carolpaynestamps1

Embossing directly on the card front stretches and distorts the paper and makes it sort of floppy, so I cut another piece of the same Old Olive  4" x 5 1/4" to emboss with the Holly Textured Impressions Folder, adhering with a dimensional in each corner. I stamped the bloom twice with just the inside layer of the Painted Harvest sunflower with Real Red, then filled in the center with Crushed Curry. I stamped the solid leaves with stamped-off Old Olive and the detailed leaves with full-strength. I stamped the "Merry Christmas!" from the limited-time Hostess set, Merry Patterns, with black ink. After cutting with a Layering Circle Framelit, I layered it on a Stitched Shapes Framelit Circle cut from Gold Foil. It really gives it a gold-rimmed tag look!

Stampin_up_painted_harvest_tag_carolpaynestamps2

I wanted to continue the gold on the inside so I cut a 4" x 5 1/4" layer. For future cards I will be cutting my Stitched Shapes circle "tag" from the center of this layer to conserve my Gold Foil Sheets. This layer will be covered with the white stamped layer anyway!

Stampin_up_gold_foil_carolpaynestamps

Here's my final layer for the inside. I used a Watercolor Christmas sentiment with more stamped blooms. I love to coordinate my envelope by stamping some of the same images for a fun teaser when the card arrives!

Stampin’ Up! Painted Harvest Gilded Faux Silk!

Stampin’ Up! Painted Harvest Gilded Faux Silk!

Hey there! Today's card is also done with the Faux Silk technique, but I added the Gilding technique to step it up!

Stampin_up_gilded_painted_harvest_carolpaynestamps1

Both natural and white coffee filters work great for this technique. I stamped the Painted Harvest bloom all over a natural one for today's card. I used Real Red ink, but when stamped on the natural filter it looks more like Cherry Cobbler. After stamping I crumpled into a ball, kind of tightly, then opened back up loosely. I didn't smooth out all of the wrinkles and creases before gluing to my 4" x 5 1/4" Very Vanilla layer. After folding and adhering the edges to the back side of the layer with liquid glue I adhered to an Early Espresso 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" layer on the Real Red card base.

Stampin_up_gilded_painted_harvest_carolpaynestamps5

After the layer was attached to the card base I gently pressed my Versamark pad on the creases and wrinkles, sprinkled gold embossing powder over the entire card front, and tapped off the excess back into my embossing powder container. I also used a soft brush to selectively flick away excess powder where ti was sticking too much to the still-damp ink. I then used my heat tool to emboss the powder and achieve the "gilded" look.

Stampin_up_gilded_painted_harvest_carolpaynestamps2

I stamped a greeting from Merry Mistletoe with Old Olive ink on a 1" strip of Very Vanilla, snipping one end with my Paper Snips into banner points. I scraped the edges of the banner on the Versamark pad, dipped the edges in the Gold embossing powder, and heated with the Heat Tool to get a hint of gold edge. After wrapping Gold Metallic Thread a few times I tied a knot around the threads. I finished it off with a stamped holly from Carols of Christmas and three pearls I colored with the Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blend Marker.

(Stampin' Blends alcohol markers will be available to order on November 1st! Contact me my email or leave a comment here if you would like to receive a copy of the Stampin' Blends Brochure in the mail from me)

Stampin_up_gilded_painted_harvest_carolpaynestamps3

I stamped another Merry Mistletoe sentiment with Old Olive ink, and stamped the Very Vanilla envelope to match the inside of the card.
