I’m sick, but you still get to see some new cards!

Happy Friday Stampers!

I had planned to show you the Poppin' Pastels technique today, but I've gotten progressively sicker all week with this head & chest cold, so my energy level has been pretty zero for the past couple of days. I just didn't have the gumption to work on taking the pictures needed to show you this technique, so I had to shelve that idea until next week. I've even had to reschedule a workshop this week because I was too sick and contagious, so you know it's really been bad. I think I've actually plateaued today, not better, but not worse, so I hope I start improving tomorrow. But fortunately for all of us, I received my May swap package in the mail today, so I have some good cards to show you!

Remember when I showed you my swap:

I did change it a bit to make 21 of them. I used the "Friendly Words" jumbo wheel on the base of the card instead of the En Francais Background to speed up the process.

When I opened my package, I found that two other gals had thought of the same "fancy fold" to use for their swaps too! This one is by Jan Rodrian:

Kathy Morgan used the same fold for her "Motorcycle" card! She also coated the fenders and gas tank with Crystal Effects, which gives the red a glossy, intense look!

Diane Tritz created this "stairstep" card with "Elements of Style"! Black & White is so elegant and classy!

Another stair-step by Nancy Hall with Tropical Party, Birthday Block, Party Hearty, and Island Oasis Designer Paper:

And a modified "stair-step" with Tropical Party  and the "Happy Grad" stamp by Raedeen Shibata:

This swap came with no name, but it's a fun fold called a "spring card"!

Here's a cute little "grass skirt" card by Kelly Acheson. (Hi Kelly!) Kelly was one of my evening dinner table-mates on the cruise!

and the inside:

"Tropical Party" is a very popular set, Susie Wood used it for her swap too, along with the "Square Lattice Embossing folder!

Elaine Paget used "Elements of Style" with the Easel card fold and the "glitter windowshade" technique!

Ruth Anne Lilley used the "Z-fold" for her "Watercolor Trio" card:

Carla Storry  created this great grilling mitt card to complement "King of the Grill"! She used Bordering Blue cardstock, one of the retiring colors:

Carla Story ©Stampin'Up!™1990-2010

Beth Weinstein used "Party Hearty":

Beth weinstein ©Stampin'Up!™1990-2010

and the inside is an easy-peasy gift-card holder!

Beth Weinstein 2 ©Stampin'Up!™1990-2010

Cherri Gustafson created this box-top folded July 4th card:

Cherri Gustafson ©Stampin'Up!™1990-2010

Which opens up, of course, "like a box" where you can write your sentiment or tuck in a treat:

And last but not least, a cool triangle tri-fold by Jackie Ordway using "Sweet Scoops" and Island Oasis Designer paper!

Jackie ordway ©Stampin'Up!™1990-2010

I plan to make some of these and add a pocket for a gift-card or money!

That's all for today, stampers! Have a great weekend and I hope to see you back here on Monday, hopefully with that "poppin' pastels" tutorial!

Have a Stampin' Rox! weekend!

More Cruise Pics and Swaps!

Hello again Stampers! It's been a fun day today! Why has it been a fun day, you ask? Because I've been playing with my cruise swaps! "How can she play with swaps?" you ask now? Well, I've been sorting them, categorizing them, photographing them, editing them, and NOW STARTING TO BLOG THEM!!!

I'll start off with a few more pics from the cruise, then follow up with some of my favorite swaps:

2010 Southern Caribbean Cruise mystery dinner 4-16-10
I'm going to back up just a bit to the 2nd night of the cruise, which was our only full day at sea (no port-of-call). One of the restaurants on the ship offered a "Mystery Dinner Theater" for an additional fee, so Jessica & I, along with our friends Meg Wheeler & Wendy Sanders, purchased tickets. It was a very cheesy, slap-stick performance with the audience given the opportunity to participate at times and to try to guess "whodunnit", so it was a lot of fun!

2010 Southern Caribbean Cruise mystery dinner 4-26-10
This is our dessert, a chocolate tiramisu served in it's own edible chocolate bowl! (I know it seems crazy to take pictures of your food, but all the evening dining courses were served so elegantly, you just HAVE to have a picture to remember them!) Notice those "gazelle"-like horns sticking up from this dessert? They are not what they seem to be! Read on:

2010 Southern Caribbean Cruise mystery dinner dueling chocolates 4-26-10
Those "sticks" were actually chocolate, and Meg & I couldn't resist "dueling" with them a little bit!(The cruise is so fun & relaxing, it really can bring out the kid in you!) Also:

Those same sticks make excellent moustaches! (and yes, we DID eat them!)

Ok, now that you are convinced that insanity reigns on the SU! cruise, here's the first installment of some of my favorite swaps!

Stampin’ Up! Cruise! A Slice of Heaven!

Stampin’ Up! Cruise! A Slice of Heaven!

Hello Stampers!
I know I've been MIA for awhile, but it's been for a good cause! I just returned yesterday morning (3 a.m. to be exact!) from the Stampin' Up! Southern Caribbean Cruise with my daughter, Jessica! SU! gives all of their demonstrators the chance to earn an Incentive Trip each year, and when you do earn it, it includes airfare for the demo and one guest to the chosen destination or port of embarkation (in this year's case, San Juan, Puerto Rico!), then it's all-expenses paid while onboard the ship! They even pre-pay the tips you are expected to tip the waiters and cabin steward for you! The only expenses the demonstrator incurs are if they purchase excursions in the different ports and souvenirs! I'm going to post a few pics from our trip over the next few days, along with a couple of cool card ideas I either swapped for or took pics of during the cruise! Here we go:

2010 Cruise on bus to pier in San Juan 04-25-10
This is myself & Jessica on the bus heading to the Cruise ship pier in San Juan!

2010 Southern Caribbean Cruise on deck 4-26-10
Here we are on the deck of the ship! Do we look more relaxed? I know we are more wind-blown!

2010 Southern Caribbean Cruise barbados 4-27-10 atlantis submarine 2
Here we are onboard the submarine "Atlantis" in Barbados! The pics out the portholes didn't turn out well, but we were down 138ft below the surface!

2010 Southern Caribbean Cruise barbados 4-27-10 atlantis submarine 6

There wasn't much space between our seat and the outside edge of the sub! This was definitely NOT an excursion for claustrophobics! (those are MY knees, by the way, but NOT the hairy one! lol!)

Now for a couple of stamping ideas!

2010 Southern Caribbean Cruise pam morgan 3
This was on display in the Stampin' Up! Hospitality room! It's the new Old Olive Polka-Dot 6×6 album just now featured in the new Summer Mini catalog with the Small White "Eat" Decor Element applied and Old Olive 1 1/4" Striped grosgrain ribbon tied on! A GREAT recipe book idea!

2010 Southern Caribbean Cruise pam morgan 6
Planning a festive outdoor party this spring or summer? With Stampin' Up! Big Shot flower dies you can dress up your drinks easily!

2010 Southern Caribbean Cruise printed petals 1
Lastly for today, here is part of the display board showing ideas for the brand-new stamp set we received for our cruise M&T's, "Printed Petals"! I will be using this set ALOT  once the new catalog comes out on July 1st!

That's it for today! I will be back tomorrow with more!
