Happy Thursday Stampers! I thought today would be a good time to start showing you some of the samples from my super-duper workshops I have planned for the next couple of weeks! One of my new hostesses purchased the Stampin' Pastels recently and so we decided to show her friends a few of the ways to use this great-value accessory! To start off today, I'm going to show you the "Poppin' Pastels" technique, the first pastel technique I ever learned way back when I started as a demo over 7 years ago! This may be an old technique, but just by using a gorgeous current stamp, it looks fresh and exciting!
I'll start off by showing you the first sample I made using the "Medallion" Background stamp:
If you get a chance to see this card in person (and if you come to one of my events or workshops in May & June you WILL get to see it!), the colors I used of Certainly Celery, Tempting Turquoise, and Chocolate Chip are so much brighter than my rinky-dink point-and-shoot camera can capture! I used our White Organdy ribbon, and the Designer Label punch. I punched out two separate Designer Labels in Certainly Celery and Tempting Turquoise to mat the "thinking of you" label. For the ribbon, I wrapped a separate piece of white organdy around the edges of the card layer and attached to the back with SNAIL adhesive. I then hand-tied a separate bow using 16 inches of white organdy. After manipulating it for a bit to get the loops even and tidy, I attached it to the first organdy layer with a mini glue-dot.
My next sample is the same color scheme, but this time I used the Tempting Turquoise Stampin' Pastels to color the same White Organdy ribbon!
Here's the same card for a third time, but this time I colored the organdy ribbon with the Tempting Turquoise Classic inkpad and a stampin' sponge! A roll of White Organdy ribbon is an economical way to embellish your cards when you can color it so many different ways!
The wrapped ribbon layer was laid directly on the inkpad and rubbed with the stampin' sponge, which gives it a more intense ink color. The ribbon for the bow was laid on my stampin' grid sheet and rubbed with the inked stampin' sponge, which gives it a slightly softer look.
Here's my favorite stamped inside from these three cards:

That's all for today, stampers! Come back tomorrow for a tutorial on how to actually do the "Poppin' Pastels" technique, along with a couple of neat tips I discovered along the way!
Until tomorrow, have a Stampin' Rox! day!
Carol
